Fabrication of a Sprue Crusher for the Foundry Industry

Maumee Valley Fabricators provides custom equipment fabrication for a variety of industries. This sprue crusher was designed for the foundry industry. The crusher is used to crush scrap and the sprue from iron, aluminum and brass castings. Crushing this waste increases the bulk density of the material and allows the foundry to store the same weight of feed material in a much smaller volume of space as well as have a much more uniform sized feedstock.
The crusher is made from a combination of carbon steel and steel castings. Each unique component was formed, cut, and milled using our press brake, boring mill, and plate rolling equipment before the final assembly was welded by our certified welders. After fabrication and welding, the crusher was painted and assembled to customer specifications. The finished crusher is 8' x 10' x 16' high and met dimensional tolerances of ±.05”. The completion time on this project was 20 weeks. For more information about this custom equipment fabrication project, see the table below, or contact us directly.
